Marathon’s bundle system splits into three distinct categories. Each one works differently, and mixing them up is one of the most common points of confusion for new players.

1. The first is in-store cosmetic bundles — sold directly through the in-game store using Lux. These bundles include a Runner skin, a weapon skin, a small cosmetic trinket, a player profile image, and a banner, and cost 1,500 Lux, or $15 in real money. You can also buy individual Runner skins without the full bundle for around 1,120 Lux ($12), or pick up standalone weapon camos at varying prices. The store currently stocks around a dozen items at any given time, including Runner shells and weapon styles.
2. The second category is edition bundles — one-time purchase cosmetic packs tied to the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions of the game. These are the Midnight Decay sets: six exclusive cosmetics that aren’t available in the standard store. If you missed the Deluxe Edition at launch, the Deluxe Upgrade Pack is still available as a separate purchase through Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.
3. The third is the Season 1 Rewards Pass, officially called Achromatic Rush. It costs 1,000 Lux to unlock the premium track and gives access to cosmetics earned through gameplay using SILK — a separate in-game currency that can’t be bought with real money. This one is pure progression: you play, you earn SILK, you claim rewards from the pass.

Lux is bound to the Marathon account that purchased it and cannot be transferred or gifted to another account. Platform license-sharing features also don’t apply to Lux or items purchased with it. This matters if you’re managing multiple accounts or using family sharing features on console.

One thing worth knowing: Lux can only be used to purchase cosmetic items from the in-game store or the Premium Rewards Pass. It has no use outside of those two systems. Lux and SILK are entirely separate and don’t convert into each other.

The Midnight Decay set is the headline bundle in Marathon’s Deluxe Edition. It’s a full cosmetic collection in a dark armor style — black plating with blue paint-like accents — and it covers four Runner classes plus two weapon skins.

The Deluxe Edition includes a Premium Rewards Pass Voucher, 200 SILK Rewards Pass Tokens, two weapon cosmetics (the MIDNIGHT DECAY Misriah 2442 Pump Shotgun Style and the MIDNIGHT DECAY Overrun AR Style), and four Runner Shell cosmetics covering Vandal, Destroyer, Assassin, and Thief.

The Midnight Decay aesthetic stands out clearly in-game. The dark palette is practical on top of looking clean — it’s a low-visibility style that fits the tone of Marathon’s shadowed corridors and hostile environments.

Players who pick up the Collector’s Edition get all Deluxe Edition content plus a 1/6th scale Thief Runner shell statue with LED lights and additional physical collectibles. The digital cosmetics are identical between the two editions.

Season 1 of Marathon is titled Death Is Only the First Step and runs from March to June 2026. The Rewards Pass that comes with it — Achromatic Rush — is one of the most important bundle systems in the game right now.

The pass launched on March 5, 2026 and spans six pages of reward nodes. When Season 1 ends, your SILK and Rewards Pass progress carry over. The pass remains available to purchase and complete indefinitely in future seasons. There’s no expiry date on cosmetics you’ve already claimed. The only time-sensitive items are the Server Slam beta rewards, which must be claimed before the season ends.

The Rewards Pass system works differently from a standard battle pass. Instead of unlocking items in a strict linear order, players earn SILK through gameplay and spend it to claim rewards on each page. Most reward nodes include two items at the same SILK cost — one free, one premium. If you buy the Premium Pass after already claiming free rewards, you immediately receive all the premium items you missed.

After player feedback at launch, Bungie expanded the pass significantly. Three new Runner Shell Styles were added to the premium track — Thief, Assassin, and Destroyer — and one additional Shell Style for Recon was added to the free track. A WSTR Shotgun Style and a Profile Emblem were also added to the free track, with these changes targeting mid-April 2026.

Bungie also confirmed that an Arachne-themed Triage Shell Style will become earnable through the Codex system in the same mid-season update, allowing players to obtain it through gameplay progression rather than direct purchase.

The key practical point: SILK has a storage cap of 140. If you hit the cap, any additional SILK earned through gameplay is lost until you spend what you have. This means active Rewards Pass management matters — you can’t stockpile indefinitely. Players who take long breaks between sessions risk losing earned progress if they’re sitting near the cap.

It covers four Runner classes in a cohesive visual style — which means if you play Vandal, Thief, Assassin, or Destroyer interchangeably (common for players adapting to different squad comps), you stay visually consistent across all of them.
