Lossless Scaling Brings 4× FPS Boost to Steam Deck Without Game Mods

A new unofficial plugin has brought frame generation support to Steam Deck via Lossless Scaling. Built on the Vulkan-based lsfg-vk layer, the tool boosts in-game performance without modifying source code — and works with both native and emulated titles.

Installed via Decky Loader, the plugin includes a UI for adjusting frame multiplier, stream scaling, and performance modes. To activate it, users simply launch the game with the ~/lsfg prefix.

In some games, performance gains are impressive — up to 4× the original FPS. For example, Elden Ring can reach 80 fps, while Okami HD holds steady at 60 fps.

However, the developer behind lsfg-vk did not authorize the plugin’s release and warned of possible bugs. Early versions shipped with flawed default settings, which may have affected visual quality or caused glitches. Patches have since been released, and development is ongoing.

⚠️ Note: The plugin requires a licensed copy of the official Lossless Scaling app, available on Steam.
