Chaos is a Lakshana S-Rank main DPS who joined Neverness to Everness in Version 1.1 Phase 2 on June 24, 2026. He is a member of ETD-6 and plays as a full on-field damage dealer who stays on the ground for most of every fight. His kit runs on two resources — Warrant and Crime — and his rotation is built around spending both as efficiently as possible. If you like characters with a clear, satisfying damage loop and a strong burst window, Chaos fits that role well.
His damage comes from marking enemies with a debuff called Warrant, stacking Crime through his basic attack combo, and cashing out with Final Verdict for a big Settlement hit. His Ultimate puts him in Dread Echo, where Crime generates on its own, letting him chain Final Verdicts much faster. He also has a passive that detonates for heavy damage when Remora expires on an enemy — and the longer Remora ran, the harder it hits.
One thing worth knowing before you build him: Chaos does not work like most DPS characters in NTE. He already has a lot of CRIT Rate built into his kit, his Arc, and his Cartridge. Stacking more of it just wastes stat budget. Lakshana DMG is where his real multipliers live, and that should be your main focus when selecting modules.
How Chaos Deals Damage in NTE 1.1 — Core Mechanics
Before looking at gear or teams, it helps to understand what actually drives his numbers.
Warrant is a debuff applied by his Skill (Doubtmark) and his Ultimate (Retribution). Warranted enemies take 20% more damage from Chaos, and his passive Prime Target pushes that bonus to 30%. Every rotation starts by applying Warrant to priority targets.
Crime is his main resource. It builds through his basic attack chain — each full 5-hit combo generates 300 Crime, his Skill adds 100, and a perfect dodge riposte adds another 100. Once Crime hits 1000, holding the basic attack triggers Final Verdict Part 2, his heaviest hit.
Retribution (Ultimate) applies Warrant to all nearby enemies and enters Dread Echo for 12 seconds. During Dread Echo, Crime charges automatically and rapidly, which means Chaos can fire off Final Verdict far more often than during his standard combo loop. This window is his burst phase and where most of his damage lands.
Justice in Time (passive) fires a big burst of Lakshana damage when Remora expires on an enemy. The damage scales with how long Remora lasted. This is why Hathor is so valuable in his team — she extends Remora from 5 to 12 seconds, and Chaos’s passive hits much harder for it.
Awakening priority: If you pull extra copies of Chaos, unlock False Origin first — it instantly refills Crime after Retribution ends, which keeps the burst loop going smoothly. Charge / Sin is second because it applies DEF ignore to Warranted enemies, a direct damage gain in every fight.

Best Arc for Chaos in Neverness to Everness 1.1
| Arc | Type | Key Effect |
|---|---|---|
| What's Desired | Signature (S-Rank) | +20% Lakshana DMG permanently; +40% CRIT DMG every time he uses his Redirect Skill or Ultimate |
| Fluff of Ferocity | Battle Pass (S-Rank) | Stacks +4% CRIT DMG per critical hit, up to 10 stacks — Chaos crits constantly, so stacks stay at cap |
| A Time Will Come | F2P | +10% ATK/DEF/HP when the team has 3 different Esper types; CRIT Rate substat |
One stat note that applies regardless of which Arc you use: do not put CRIT Rate on your Cartridge main stat. Chaos gets CRIT Rate from his Arc, from Street Boxer’s set bonus, and from Hathor when she is in the team. Overcapping CRIT Rate is easy, and those module slots are better spent elsewhere.
Best Cartridge and Modules for Chaos in NTE 1.1
Street Boxer is the only Cartridge worth using on Chaos. Its 4-piece bonus gives 14% CRIT Rate baseline, and that jumps to 28% for 20 seconds any time the team triggers Remora or Stain. In his standard team with Esper Zero triggering Remora, that 28% bonus is almost always active.
Combined with Hathor’s +10% CRIT Rate in Remora teams and his Console bonus of 16% CRIT DMG per Type III module, Street Boxer lets Chaos reach 80–85% CRIT Rate without needing it as a main stat on any module. This is the setup that lets you redirect main stat budget into Lakshana DMG instead.
Shadow Creed is a workable alternative — it gives a stronger ATK boost after his Skill fires, and since Doubtmark opens every rotation, the buff is always active. The ceiling is lower than Street Boxer but usable.
Module main stat priority:
- With What’s Desired: Lakshana DMG Bonus first, then CRIT DMG or ATK%
- With Fluff of Ferocity: CRIT Rate as main stat (you need more of it without the signature’s substat), then Lakshana DMG
Substat priority: CRIT DMG → Universal DMG Bonus → ATK% → CRIT Rate (only if still below cap)
Best Team Composition for Chaos in NTE 1.1
Chaos needs a Cosmos character to trigger Remora and a Psyche character to help with Stain. Both reactions boost his damage — Remora feeds his Justice in Time passive, and Stain adds 20% Lakshana vulnerability to enemies.
Best-in-slot team:
| Character | Element | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Chaos | Lakshana | Main DPS — on-field for the full rotation |
| Esper Zero | Cosmos | Triggers Remora on demand; his Skill instantly fills his Esper Cycle energy, which means Remora can fire twice per rotation with the right timing |
| Hathor | Lakshana | Extends Remora from 5 to 12 seconds; gives the whole team +10% CRIT Rate against Remora-affected enemies |
| Haniel | Psyche | ATK buff through Skill and Ultimate; helps trigger Stain alongside Chaos for +20% Lakshana DMG taken |
The reason this team works so well comes down to how the reactions stack. Esper Zero triggers Remora, Hathor stretches its duration to 12 seconds, and Chaos’s passive detonates when it finally expires — dealing damage scaled to those full 12 seconds. Meanwhile Haniel keeps ATK inflated and Stain active. The reactions are not competing, they all point in the same direction.
One thing to watch: do not re-apply Remora before it expires. Resetting it early restarts the timer on Chaos’s Justice in Time passive and cuts the detonation damage. Let it run out naturally.
Budget and F2P alternatives:
Hathor → Skia (Standard banner, also Lakshana, applies Remora — duration stays at 5 seconds without Hathor’s enhancement)
Haniel → Fadia (better survivability, slightly less damage buff)
Esper Zero → Hotori (weaker Remora generation but strong personal buffs)
If you do not have Hathor yet, prioritize getting at least one other Cosmos character who can trigger Remora consistently. Running Chaos without Remora access leaves a large portion of his passive damage on the table.
Chaos Rotation Guide for NTE 1.1 — Step-by-Step Breakdown
This rotation assumes the BiS team of Chaos / Esper Zero / Hathor / Haniel.
- Haniel — Use Skill and Ultimate to apply ATK buff and start building Stain
- Esper Zero — Use Skill to instantly fill Esper Cycle energy and trigger Remora
- Hathor — Use Skill to extend Remora to 12 seconds and activate her CRIT Rate buff
- Chaos — Doubtmark (Skill) — Apply Warrant to priority targets immediately on entry
- Spam Basic Attack combo — Run the full 5-hit chain to build Crime; each chain = 300 Crime
- Retribution (Ultimate) — Enter Dread Echo; Crime generates automatically, Warrant hits all enemies in AoE
- Continue Basic Attack — Hold the attack button once Crime hits 1000 to trigger Final Verdict Part 2
- Wait for Remora to expire — Do not swap to Zero early; let the full 12-second duration run so Justice in Time detonates at maximum power
- Repeat from step 2 when Esper Zero’s Skill is available again
If Hathor’s Skill comes off cooldown mid-rotation, a quick swap to refresh Remora’s duration and CRIT Rate buff is worth it before swapping back to Chaos. Keep Chaos on the field as long as possible — he is not a quick-swap character and his Crime loop rewards sustained on-field time.

Is Chaos Worth Pulling in Neverness to Everness 1.1?
Chaos is a strong on-field Lakshana DPS with a clean damage loop and a genuinely useful open-world mechanic — his fog hound doubles as a teleport anchor, which lets you place custom waypoints anywhere in the map and warp back to them. No other character in NTE does this.
His damage ceiling is high, but it requires Remora access to reach. Without a Cosmos character in the team, his Justice in Time passive barely contributes, and that cuts a meaningful chunk from his total output. With the right setup, though, he is one of the best DPS options available in 1.1.
He is fully viable at A0 — his core Crime and Final Verdict loop does not rely on any Awakening nodes. Pulling extra copies improves him, but you do not need them to clear current endgame content.
Pull if you need a strong Lakshana DPS and have Esper Zero or another Cosmos character ready to pair him with. Think twice if you already invested heavily into Lacrimosa in Phase 1 and have limited resources left for 1.1.
